The End of Season 5 - FFXIV Feast

With the end of Season 5 of The Feast, Final Fantasy XIV’s ranked PvP, rapidly approaching, I want to address some issues that are quite clear with how the game handles ranked PvP. I also want to state my hopes for what the developers will do to address these problems in future seasons.

Final Fantasy XIV: Patch 4.1 Housing - The Aftermath of the Battle of Shirogane

With the release of patch 4.1, subtitled Return to Ivalice, there were many things players had to look forward to. These include the new raid The Royal City of Rabanastre; the new dungeon The Drowned City of Skalla, and a new primal battle - The Minstrel's Ballad: Shinryu’s Domain (more commonly known as Shinryu Ex) just to name a few. However, the one that people were likely most excited for was the introduction of the new housing area Shirogane, and with it twelve new wards allowing for more players to get their hands on a house.

Has Summoner lost its identity in Final Fantasy XIV?

I remember my first time booting up Final Fantasy XI back in 2006, I saw a Summoner almost immediately after I left the city of San D’oria and thought they were the coolest thing. They had big majestic summons, and a wide variety of them at that. Now, four years after the release of A Realm Reborn, I still have difficulty finding any desire to play the job in FFXIV, as it is far from that glorious image I remember from my days of FFXI.

Imagining Time Mage in the world of Final Fantasy XIV

In the first part of my series, I discuss how I would have loved to see Chemist as a healer, as I think it’d spice things up a bit. I also mention how I feel there was a missed opportunity with the skill changes made to jobs in Stormblood. The simplification of the system, in particular. But now it’s time to give some love to the tanks. After all, they didn’t get a new job this expansion either.

Imagining Chemist as a Job in Final Fantasy XIV

Now that Stormblood, Patch 4.0 of Final Fantasy XIV, has been released for just over a month, I’ve had some time to play around with the new jobs, as well the rather major changes made to the pre-existing ones.

As I was playing around with them, it left me wondering what jobs they could include come 5.0. (I know. It’s a long ways until then and 4.0 just dropped, but I can still wonder, can’t I ?)

DPS

Stormblood is introducing red mage; and samurai, both of which are DPS. So, while I think it’s safe to say that queue times for DPS may be atrocious for awhile, what else is happening in the DPS world?

My Thoughts on an Ideal MMORPG

I’ve played MMOs for as long as I’ve had a computer able to run them. Whenever I move to a new MMO though, there are always elements I have gotten used to that I really wish were in the new one. So, I want to talk about what I think would make the closest thing to a perfect MMO. Which, to me at least, is just an MMO in which you can be fully immersed in. Kind of like how Sword art Online is, just minus the harems and terrible plot lines.

An Alive and Open World

What if FFXIV wasn't an MMO

Why?
It’s easy to find a reason to turn a normal offline game into an MMO. I mean, who doesn’t want to play with friends in their favorite game? To me, that alone is enough to wish a game was an MMO. So, what possible reason could make an MMO a desirable offline experience? Well that’s what I’ll be exploring in this article.

A Look at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest in Frankfurt

Throughout this series the one thing I can’t seem to escape is Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. I have lost track how many times it has shown up in my articles ever since it was first announced back in October of last year.

Final Fantasy XIV - Patch 3.45

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.45 released this Tuesday, bringing floors 51-200 of the deep dungeon, “Palace of the Dead”; a new quest line to upgrade and further enhance your relic weapon, the only weapon where you can change and decide the stats on it; and the third season of “The Feast,” the ranked pvp arena.
